Only two miles
I've been down in Big Sur for the Thanksgiving long weekend. I really like riding down here as the road is perfect for longer tempo/endurance rides. This year I had a light week around Thanksgiving, with only one real ride planned. The day I wanted to do a longer tempo ride was one of the most windy I have experienced in Big Sur. I decided that the only safe place to ride was the 2mi climb up to the house. This climb is one of my favorites: 2mi at a steady 7.3% with great pavement (this climb was one of the KOMs for the old Highway 1 stage of the Tour of California). Because it was so windy, I rode down the driveway, descended for 2mi, turned around, climbed, and repeated for about 3 hours. Not the most exciting workout in the world, but pretty solid considering that I was never more than 2 miles from the house. It felt good to get in some solid tempo work.
I hove everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!
